Colonial House Chimneys of Malim Nawar Power Station staff quarters

The old staff quarters of Malim Nawar Power Station build in late 40s by the Perak River Hydro-electric company
after the second world war is still standing strong after 60 years,
thanks to the brick, concrete and high quality wood being used during its construction.

    1. Hi, My name is Rod Sawyer. My father went to Malim Nawar in 1948 working for the Perak River Hydro Company. He retired in 1968. I have very fond memories of my childhood there. Not sure what staff quarters you talk about as all the bungalows were built well before the second world war. One of the bungalows we lived in, known as Number One was actually used by the Japanese as a headquarters. The last house we lived in before being transferred to Ipoh HO was a new one next to the padang. I still have the drawn plans for it.

  3. Hi, my name is Maztura. I came across this blog of yours when I was searching for Malim Nawar Power Station. I accompanied my husband yesterday, because he had a job there. We were attracted to the old staff quarters there because of the uniqueness in their designs. It seems to be the Rumah Melayu Lama design, but build with bricks, concrete & woods. We took some photographs too yesterday.
