The chimneys of Convent Primary School in Tanah Rata,Cameron Highlands
is definitely a unique one for a French influence colonial building
which was officially opened in 1935 as a broarding school called the Pensionnat Notre Dame.
During the WW2 it was used as a hospital by the Japanese
and later again by the British until it was handed back to the congregation
to be restored and used as a school again.
The emblem on the wall.
A view of Tanah Rata from the school.
This a gorgeous building. And such elaborate chimney pots - I wonder if there was a reason, other than whimsical decoration?
ReplyDeleteVery nice photos with beautiful architectural details.

Violetsky,
ReplyDeleteThese chimneys are real ones as the highland have an average day time temp of ~23deg C and night average of 10deg C with a record low of 7.8deg C
recorded in 1978.
Very nice capture of the beautiful chimneys. Thanks for sharing. I like your pictorial blog & I've followed it.
