Coconut Shell Charcoal Kiln Chimney

This two 7m high chimney made of used drums
of a coconut shell charcoal factory is for channeling up the smoke
during the process of making this speciality charcoal
which have many special uses such as
in getting rid of impurities in drinking water,
filtering out poisonous gases
and many more including its normal use as charcoal.

The kiln uses drums where the whole process
from shell to charcoal takes place in it.

The dormant kiln.

Finish products in sacks ready for sale.

This is where the process takes place.
The coconut shell which is normally thrown away
and cause a nuisance as a popular breading ground for mosquitos
is now recycled to charcoal
thanks to the operator of this unique cottage industry.

Watch how it is made in India.
