Chimneys of Kapar Power Station

The three RC chimneys which are about 120m high of Kapar Power Station
is situated at Kampung Tok Muda,Kapar about 18km from Klang.
It is the largest power station in Malaysia with a generation capacity of 2420MW.
It is also the only power station in Malaysia with triple fuel firing capability (gas, oil, and coal).



There are three phase in the power station project and a fast track open cycle Gas Turbine.
The ash ponds in the power plant is also a water birds heaven
where more than 60 species of waterbirds have been spotted.



The 40m chimneys of the two remaining Nuovo Pignone GE FR9 Gas Turbines
with a total capacity of 220mw of an initial three
which were installed after the national blackout of 1993 on a fast track basis.
The other unit have since been transfered to Gelugor Power Station,Penang.



Phase one consist of 2x 300MW steam turbine generators with boilers
firing on gas and oil.


Phase two consist of 2x 300MW capacity firing on gas,coal and oil.



Finally phase three of 2x 500MW firing on gas,coal and partly by oil.

A small hindu temple outside the rear gate which was build
when the plant was under constuction still serves as a place of worship
for the hindu staffs to prayer for the general safety at the workplace.

Wood Dryer Burner Chimney

These three 5m high metal chimney of a wood dryer burner
is from a sawmill at Sungai Lembing road in Kuantan
and due to road widening works we may not be able see it in the near future.
The burner supplys heat to a brick kiln for drying of wood planks.

This is a 10m high brick sawdust burner chimney
of Jeld Wen Windows & Doors factory at Rantau Panjang,Klang.
It is unique because it comes with a nice metal top cap.

Metal Sawdust Burner Chimney of Yilian Timber

This 20m high sawdust burner chimney is of a sawmill in Klang.
It looks like it is having 2 extra silencer pipe which i think is sort of dust collector on the side
and it's seldom in use nowadays because most of the sawdust is recycled.

Coconut Shell Charcoal Kiln Chimney

This two 7m high chimney made of used drums
of a coconut shell charcoal factory is for channeling up the smoke
during the process of making this speciality charcoal
which have many special uses such as
in getting rid of impurities in drinking water,
filtering out poisonous gases
and many more including its normal use as charcoal.


The kiln uses drums where the whole process
from shell to charcoal takes place in it.

The coconut shell which is normally thrown away
and cause a nuisance as a popular breading ground for mosquitos
is now recycled to charcoal
thanks to the operator of this unique cottage industry.

Brick Sawdust Burner of Modern Wood Products..

This 5m high Brick Sawdust burner of a furniture factory
is situated in old Klang road and beside the klang river
nicely hidden by another factory beside it until the factory was recently demolished.

Gopeng Brick Kiln no 3

This 7m high brick chimney of an unnamed brick kiln producing a variety of produce
from fancy flower pots to clay sewage pipes and bricks.
It uses fire wood as the main source of heat for the kiln.











The other chimney at the kiln is a also 7m high and with a brick foundation and metal chimney.

Gopeng Brick Kiln no 2

This 7m high brick chimney not far away from the first one
is abandoned with its kiln already collapsed and surrounding area
being planted by palm oil trees.
