Kampung Bukit Kuching chimney

This brick chimney of about 6 meters in height
of a former sago factory from the pre war period,
still with some markings of the year it was build in 1940.
The house owner where the chimney is situated talk about
the destruction of the factory during the war
most probably by the retreating British
before the arrival of the Japanese or
by aircraft bombing raids during the occupation
in what we term as
the 'scorched-earth policy' of destroying everything
that could be of benefit to the enemy.
Thanks to Shaharom Ahmad for the tip
The internal shows burn marks of a well used chimney.
Build on a swampy area the chimney is now tilting
The faded 1940 markings after edit,
how nice if someone can get it repainted.
Other parts of the damaged Sago Flour Factory can still be found aroud the compound of the 2 houses.
